Communications

International development sector

I am a communications specialist and campaigner in the international development and not-for-profit sectors, with proven skills and experience in content development, strategy, advocacy, team management, research uptake and writing and editing. I have specialised knowledge in HIV, fair trade, nutrition, human rights, child labour and now dementia care.

Freelance roles

As a freelance consultant since 2007, my work includes: devising and implementing communication and advocacy strategies; managing communication teams; resource mobilisation; writing and editing communication materials and reports; and providing communications technical support and training to Southern partners.

Communication for development

I am particularly enthusiastic about my role in communications for development; supporting disadvantaged communities to work together to address their biggest issues. For example, I’ve strengthened the capacity of southern partners to develop national advocacy strategies, and facilitated video advocacy training opportunities for marginalised young people.
